STORY
The purpose of this page is to not only share my art practice, life experiences and views on any subject, with the exception of politics and religion, but to learn from others and perhaps provide an inkling of inspiration or motivation for someone else out there to take the plunge and live their own dream.
Living the dream? Ask the question and everyone will have their own personal vision for what this means – for my husband it is playing golf most days, watching sport and analysing current affairs. For me it is practicing my art full-time, having time for yoga and occasionally having a go of the remote control. As a couple, living the dream involves spending time with our children and their partners – family dinner being their reward, walking the dog – a cafe breakfast our reward and travelling together.
Living the dream, according to my vision, is a life of relative comfort and simplicity. It may sound disingenuous, but for me, work and the accumulation of income was never about the flash house/car/clothes or expensive this and that to impress people I neither know nor necessarily like. However, I am not naive and realise it is this financial security that enables me to live the dream, and whether motivation was material possessions or not, it still takes a basic amount of money to enjoy the non tangibles in life – freedom, choices and time.
Living the dream is my pinnacle of achievement, the culmination of forty years of working, sometimes inordinately hard, in seemingly untenable circumstances accompanied by a tenuous hold on sanity. I never let go of the dream and it is now my reality.
